Jocelyn Mackenzie and Jake Mehrmann July 16 at the Grant Lot
With a shape-shifting sound that is at once personal and universal, Jocelyn Mackenzie creates intimate pop songs for a generation of seekers. She is a Brooklyn-based musician, maker, and psychic medium, best known as the singing drummer from Brooklyn’s indie-pop trio Pearl and the Beard. She released her debut solo album PUSH on Righteous Babe Records in early 2021, which American Songwriter calls “unique and infectious.” PUSH was arranged entirely for string quartet and includes compositions from an all-star team of composers including Franz Nicolay (The Hold Steady), Adam Schatz (Japanese Breakfast, Sylvan Esso), and Emily Hope Price (Pearl and the Beard, Kishi Bashi). Her music, which Under the Radar describes as “spirited, powerful, [and] jubilant,” has been heard in commercials, film, theater, and television. At her core, Mackenzie’s extra-sensory skills inform her creative expressions, integrating media and meaning to create a sound that is both sensual and personal, “at once timeless and very much necessary in this moment.” (Popdust)
NH based singer-songwriter Jake Mehrmann takes a wry, insightful approach to songwriting. Often focusing on the nuances of interpersonal relationships, his work has received praise from NPR’s All Songs Considered, among many others. He has toured and performed with the likes of Yo La Tengo, The Mountain Goats, and Deer Tick, both as a solo performer and as the frontman of Tan Vampires.

Dylan Earl & Stevie Weinstein-Foner July 27 at the Grant Lot
Dylan Earl “has taken things formerly relegated to the Aaron Tippin-and-Travis Tritt circa-1992 vault and breathed new life into them. Dylan Earl is a post-country/countrypolitan songwriter from the Ozarks in Arkansas. Dylan has sung for country fans all over the world and shared stages with the likes of Tanya Tucker, Wanda Jackson, and the Drive-By Truckers.
Los Angeles-based musician and artist Stevie Weinstein-Foner offers songs of sin- cerity, optimism, and cosmic perspective. 2021’s Wondering album is fully-realized, honed over years of playing and touring with Jolie Holland. The album trades in warm sounds, irresistible harmonies, and songs that are probably best sung around a campfire.
